The Art of Making Silk

Summary:

The ancient city of Florence changes very slowly, the stone streets are very much the same for 500 years. The city has seen a number of historical  events and these wars had left an effect on the city. But there was one factory that  was teaching still the way of the past. Its  name: Antique Silk Factory of Florence.

Behind the leaf-covered walls of the Silk factory, lies the main area of the factory where someone can see the machines that have been there for centuries. There you will see a worker called Stefano Benelli, he is a worker who makes the silk fabric that the machines can’t produce. You will also find the manager who will tell you that “everything here is made like the ancient times”. 

After the world was finished all of the other Italian companies threw away the slower hand looms which let the Setificio factory the only one with hand looms.

Lastly, the Silk in the Satificio factory are special because of their unique style and the fact that you cannot find them in any other sport. In the book, we learn that there is no other city that has maintained the of the Renaisance like Florence.

In this city style and tradition come together in beautiful handwoven silk fabrics.

*The Renaisance= a cultural movement that took place from 14th to the 17th century, beginning in Italy and later spreading to the rest of Europe.
